Coulter's just a weeee bit whiny after Elizabeth Edwards' comments.
"I have written five New York Times bestsellers."
A) Interesting to quote that fact since I was under the impression that her opinion of the NYTimes itself is better dead then read.
B) How many times is she going to remind us she's a writer of best-sellers? Sheesh, does she have to put a bumper sticker on her forehead so we all know it when listening to her? It sounds eerily like the same excuse she uses when she attacks John Edwards about talking about his dead son all the time.
Fancy that.

Unfortunately for Republicans, she's turning out to be quite the money pit for Democrats
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Wednesday encouraged his supporters to donate to his campaign in response to "hateful" comments from conservative author Ann Coulter.
Edwards made his first comments to The Associated Press in response to Coulter's suggestion that she wished he would be "killed in a terrorist assassination plot." His campaign cited her remarks in two e-mails and a telephone text message to supporters for donations, with the fundraising deadline on Saturday.
It's not the first time Coulter has given the Edwards campaign a financial boost. In March, she called Edwards a "faggot" and the campaign used video of the comment to help raise $300,000 before the end of the first quarter.
In the e-mails, the campaign asked supporters to send donations to defy her remarks and help Edwards meet his goal of raising $9 million in the second quarter. The first e-mail from campaign adviser Joe Trippi showed a clip of Coulter on ABC's "Good Morning America," where she made the comments on Monday.

Usually Chris Matthews' Hardball on MSNBC provides a welcome respite from the deterioration of political dialogue in this country. In recent weeks Matthews and his deferential commentators have discussed numerous topics that the liberal media patently ignores such as Fred Thompson's powerful musk and the frightening possibility that Hillary Clinton will paint the White House pink. So I was looking forward to spending a whole hour watching Matthews discuss the important issues of the day with Ann Coulter, who was promoting the paperback version of her book Godless, which is only 1,740 places behind Amazon's Number One non-fiction title A Tragic Legacy by Glenn Greenwald, who is not blonde or photogenic enough to appear on Matthews' show. Ann Coulter looked great despite her very cheap, Republican haircut and the fact that she apparently hadn't eaten in days.
But then Matthews played a terribly mean trick on Coulter, the beloved conservative pundit. It turns out he had agreed to let Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of Presidential candidate John Edwards, call in and confront Coulter without informing his guest beforehand. Coulter seemed shocked that Edwards even had a wife, since she had once called him a "faggot." Was her gaydar not working properly? she seemed to be wondering. Had all those men who had told her they were gay only done so to get her to leave them alone?

While you're letting Good Morning America know how you feel about their not only bringing this hateful, nasty, and vindictive idiot bitch with the IQ of a soiled diaper onto their show to spew such hateful and vile speech towards a fellow American, how about throwing a few bucks towards John Edwards?

A recent Newsweek poll showing Democrat Barack Obama leading top Republican presidential hopefuls could have been made up and might help al-Qaida, conservative commentator Ann Coulter said in her latest verbal broadside.
...
"I think this is Newsweek doing more push polling for al-Qaida," she said, referring to campaign-season telephone calls to voters masquerading as neutral surveys but designed to build opposition to targeted candidates.
Asked by host Geraldo Rivera whether she thought Newsweek would make up the results, Coulter said, "Yes, I do," adding, "In polls where people are actually allowed to vote, Republicans do a lot better." - (Source)
Coulter did not explain how the poll might help the terrorist group.

I just finished reading the latest update on the case of Ann Coulter's disappearing advertisers and at the end of that post was a link to some reaction by the fringe version of our counterparts, Free Republic.
Contained within those many, many pages of many, many comments are some hilarious twistings of the case of Ann Coulter and the naughty, yet harmless schoolyard taunt that all children use when talking to the friends in front of their parents, the word "faggot."
She called him a cigarette?
No. A fag is a cigarette. She called him a faggot = bundle of sticks.
<><><><><><><><>
She called him a cigarette?
Naaah. She didn't even call him a butt.
For the life of me, I can't see what is so "noble" and "brave" about what she said, and why it needs to be defended so rabidly.
If it's so noble and honorable, then the first thing the President and Vice President should do tomorrow morning is call a press conference and call someone a faggot.
And as sure as the sun rises in the east, you would have Freepers defending it.
Maybe Anns supporters should cancel their Verizon accounts. 2 can play this game.
<><><><><><><><>
Thanks for your comments. I have been looking for reasons to dump Verizon and you just gave it to me. Thanks.
<><><><><><><><>
I'll be looking for a new phone service/internet provider tomorrow. A boycott cuts both ways.
<><><><><><><><>
Verizon is major but I've never heard of the other two.
Verizon loses my cellphone account tomorrow morning. I have used their service for more than 5 years now.

Har,Har, HARDY-HAR HAR.
Don't the Liberals just love free preach?

I am not aware that the First Amendment of the Constitution protects Americans from having their speech muted by Verizon.
When I was in high school, any prissy boy, any wimp was fair game to be called "faggot"--without necessarily implying sexual orientation.. That was nearly 40 years ago.
The 'F' word, was then (and I presume in most contexts now) taken as a euphamism for some form of sexual contact, and would have then (and now) earned me a slap across the chops had I said it in the presence of my mother (despite the fact she is a great-great grandmother now). She is every bit a Lady, and will not tolerate such language.
Are we to begin applying subscripts to all the verboten verbs and nouns, just to keep track of which 'f' or 'n' or whatever word it was supposed to be, or can we speak our minds plainly and clearly?
It is obvious that no matter how civil the attempt to frame the discourse, at some point the walls of political correctness will close in and be used to villify the bearer of any message the Left does not like.
After all, that is the purpose of P-C, to provide Liberals a way out of discussing the issues by villifying the verbiage used to deliver a point.
If Edwards is a "faggot", well, let him be offended. If not, he should simply say that it does not apply.
Instead, the prissy ambulance chaser has managed to use this (sarc)horrible insult (/sarc) to suck in funds which will languish in his low ranked campaign, and will not go to the Dems current two front-runners.
So much the better.
Meanwhile, he milks it for all the airtime and column inches he can.
I am decidedly amused by that.

"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I'm - so, kind of at an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards, so I think I'll just conclude here and take your questions,"
"C'mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean."

I think Mitt Romney, as a 2008 Presidential candidate, needs to clarify his stance on whether he agrees or not with Ann Coulter's representation of John Edwards that he is a faggot.
Americablog weighs in:
Every year this conference showcases the worst of the Republican party. Conservatism at its cruelest, most extreme core. And this year was no different. One of the top conservative pundits calls John Edwards a "faggot." Nice. And these are the people who make up the core base of the Republican party. Mitt Romney praised Coulter only moments before her public slur. Will Romney now retract his praise? Oh that's right, the very pro gay Mitt Romney is "now" anti-gay. I forgot.

Remember this? (Kirsten Powers starts in on Ann around 0:33)
And now it seems the US and Nato apparently knew there was a suicide bomber "at large" that according to the Taliban was targetting Dick Cheney and that in the end, despite his surviving without incident, killed around 23 people while working towards resurgence for the anticipated spring offensive.
"They must have only had a few hours' notice, since the trip was kept secret. This implies a pool of willing suicide bombers available at a moment's notice," said Peter Bergen, a terrorism analyst.
The Taliban, a radical Islamic movement that was driven from power by a U.S.-led coalition after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, is becoming tactically more like the Al Qaeda terrorists the group once sheltered, analysts said.
There were no suicide bombings in Afghanistan before 2001, when bombers disguised as Arab journalists assassinated a prominent anti-Taliban rebel, Ahmad Shah Massoud. There were 27 suicide attacks in 2005 and 139 in 2006.
Seth Jones of the RAND Corp. think tank said what amazes him is the speed with which the bombing was carried out. "It shows a very strong and well-developed infrastructure, that they could grab somebody, hand him to the handlers and carry it out in the time Cheney was there," he said. (Source)

Again, not always the best quality but damn it's good to hear this stuff. I effectively grew up, in part, on this kind of music thanks to my dear sweet brother Brendan.

This last clip has two songs, Making The Bombs and Killing For Jesus. I'd like to dedicate the first song to all the warmongering right-wing bloggers and the second song I'd like to dedicate to politicians and pundits like John McCain, Mitt Romney, Ann Coulter, George Bush, and the rest of the Republican Party who not only enabled this war but have time and time again tried to separate themselves and those like them from the rest of the country, often in the name of Jesus.

I came across this video at Decline and Fall where at first, I thought perhaps they had made this video. Clicking on it for the YouTube embed, I see it's made by Peace Takes Courage.Enjoy. What am I saying? There's nothing really to enjoy about this film. I guess take heart in that there are people who still care for the Iraqis despite what we have done to them and to quote Decline and Fall above:
But this video is an important reminder that our intervention in Iraq has made life worse for Iraqis. Yes, I said that: life for an average Iraqi is worse today than it was under Saddam. This is not to apologize for or downgrade the awfulness of Saddam Hussein's brutal regime, it's just to say that life there is even more unsure and filled with horror now than it was then. Do I need to point out that it's our fault?
